A true Hearts & Arrows diamond has 58 facets, is totally symmetrical and has optimum light return. To the naked eye, this diamond has greater brilliance than other diamonds.

In an H&A diamond all of the bezel, star, upper girdle, lower girdle and pavilion facets must be perfectly aligned at 180 degrees opposite each other and all facets must be the same size and shape.

If there is even a minute deviation, there will be a leakage of light and the H&A pattern will be imperfect. This is an extremely difficult task for the polisher and demands maximum precision.
